Walk, run, gym, swim: chances are that you’re aware how important exercise is for our physical health. But in a world that’s becoming increasingly more frantic, what about your mind and your soul?
Yoga is a union of mind, body and spirit, with heaps of benefits that range from increased flexibility and circulation to providing an antidote to problems like anxiety, insomnia, arthritis and poor digestion. Yoga practice is a continuing journey, personal to the individual, with no competitiveness, no judgement, and certainly no ego.
Our energising Vinyasa yoga classes are set in a beautiful studio in South West London. Classes are dynamic and challenging while being deeply relaxing and uplifting – if you’re after a relaxing start to the week, try our candlelit classes on Monday and Tuesday nights.
You’ll find friendly faces, positive energy and an energising practise set to some cool beats. Be prepared to sweat and smile.
With a background in dance and performance, Rebecca first came to yoga in search of strength and flexibility, and very quickly became hooked. She found herself growing stronger physically and mentally, and soon realised the many benefits of her yoga practice on the mat were flowing into her life off the mat.
A few years on and Rebecca firmly believes that yoga simply has a magical way of making you happier, and this is an attitude reflected in her relaxed, uplifting classes.
Rebecca is a 350hr, Yoga Alliance-approved and registered Yoga Teacher
In August 2017 Rebecca travelled to the gorgeous Greek island of Santorini to do her 200-hour yoga teacher training in Vinyasa Ashtanga with Drishti International and since then has completed 100 hours in Mandala and Shamanism, and 50 hours in Rocket with The Yoga People. She mainly practices Vinyasa Flow, Rocket, Mandala and Ashtanga, and is fully aware she needs more Yin in her life.
Rebecca is passionate about practising the Yamas and Niyamas (the ethical and moral aspects of yoga), applying these moral codes to her practice both on and off the mat.
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”
Vinyasa Flow is a very popular style of yoga in the West. With roots in Ashtanga yoga, many of the poses are similar but the order will be different. In general the poses are held for shorter periods of time and the sequence flows constantly from pose to pose through ‘vinyasas’. In Vinyasa Flow, you are connecting the breath with movement and the practice becomes a moving meditation.
